Wax Wrap — Layer Cutaway

A sectioned view of the finished system, modeled and rendered in-house. The cut end reveals the four-layer corrosion barrier as concentric rings — the single frame that explains why the system works.

In-house 3D · Blender 4.5 Engineering cutaway Layers exaggerated for clarity
The hero device of the cutaway style. Where the install sequence shows the steps, this shows the result: a continuous, bonded stack from bare steel out to the wax-saturated felt. Band thicknesses are exaggerated so each layer reads — in reality the primer and putty are thin films. Final video adds animated leader-line callouts that draw on as each layer is named.

The four-layer system (core → out)

01 · CORE
Steel substrate

The prepped pipe (SSPC-SP2). Bright, abraded, dry — the surface everything bonds to.

02
Wax Primer

Thin penetrating film that wets the steel and displaces moisture — the bond coat.

03
Profile Putty

Fills voids and irregular profiles so the wrap conforms without bridging gaps.

04 · OUTER
Wax Wrap

Wax-saturated non-woven felt, overlapped — the continuous outer corrosion barrier.
